Scar of the Sea Topotero Vineyard Gamay Noir

A bright and expressive Gamay Noir from the Central Coast, grown in the organically farmed Topotero Vineyard of San Luis Obispo. The vines, grafted to Gamay in 2019, are farmed by Ben Taylor and vinified by Mikey Giugni of Scar of the Sea using native yeasts, ~60% whole cluster fermentation, and 10 months of aging in neutral oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, it’s a pure and energetic expression of California coastal Gamay.

Tasting Notes
Light ruby in color with aromas of strawberry, cranberry, and fresh herbs. The palate is juicy and lifted with bright red fruit, gentle tannins, and a subtle peppery edge from the whole-cluster fermentation. Mineral tension and vibrant acidity carry through to a long, refreshing finish.

Food Pairing
Perfect with roast chicken or turkey — the wine’s acidity and delicate fruit complement savory, roasted flavors. For a fun twist, try it with a mushroom toast or prosciutto-and-arugula pizza; its freshness cuts through richness and highlights earthy notes beautifully.
