Crafted from 100% Shiraz (Syrah) in the cooler climates of the Frankland River and Mount Barker sub-regions, Howard Park’s Flint Rock is a celebration of terroir. Grown on gravel and clay‑loam soils at about 150 m elevation, the wine is fermented in stainless steel with gentle punchdowns and pump‑overs, followed by 15 months aging in a mix of fine-grain French oak (20% new, 80% seasoned), delivering structure and elegance

Tasting Notes:
Deep garnet-purple in the glass, Flint Rock opens with lush notes of plum and blackberry, overlaid with black pepper, baking spice, mocha, and savory earth. On the palate, expect juicy dark berry flavors with cocoa and licorice accents, supported by silky tannins and fresh acidity, finishing with a mineral grip that speaks of its Great Southern origins .

Food Pairing:
This Syrah’s savory spice and juicy fruit make it a natural match for slow-braised lamb shoulder with rosemary and garlic — a cozy, satisfying dish that mirrors the wine’s depth. For something cheekier, pour it alongside a black pepper beef burger with caramelized onions and watch it hold its own like a champ.
