Sirene Amarulivo
Sirene (Liquore delle Sirene) is a small artisanal producer on the shores of Lake Garda, founded by Elisa Carta, who draws inspiration from the lake’s flora, her family recipes, and traditional Italian herbal liquors. Their Amarulivo is a distinctive twist: instead of using a neutral spirit base, it’s built on a local wine (Trebbiano di Lugana) infused with olive leaves, alpine herbs, roots, and spices. The name fuses amaro with ulivo (olive), a nod to the botanical hero of the drink.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, Amarulivo presents a show of green olive leaf, citrus peel, and gentle alpine herb bergamot. The palate is softly bittersweet: olive tang and savory herbals meet dried fruit (peach/nectarine) and subtle floral lift. The wine base gives it a supple texture and brightness, and the finish lingers with gentle bitterness, herbal echo, and a hint of saline minerality.
Serving Suggestion
Enjoy Amarulivo neat or over a large ice cube, or use it in cocktails (for example, in a White Negroni or as a savory alternative in highball builds) to highlight its olive-herbal character.
