Girolamo Russo Etna Rosso Feudo 2020
Girolamo Russo's “Feudo di Mezzo” is sourced from old-vine Nerello Mascalese (94%) with a splash of Nerello Cappuccio (6%), grown at around 650–670 m elevation on volcanic slopes at Contrada Feudo. The grapes are macerated for ~15 days, then aged 18 months in used oak before bottling — all led by native yeasts and minimal intervention
Tasting Notes:
Bright ruby in color, with aromas of cherry, wild berries, dried flowers, and a hint of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate it’s energetic and fresh — crisp red fruit meets volcanic minerality, underscored by light spice, fine tannins, and a lingering, slightly saline finish
Food Pairing:
Pair it simply with grilled sausages and peppers, the savory richness and char bringing out the wine’s fruit and spice. For a fun twist, enjoy it with margherita flatbread topped with tomato, mozzarella, and a sprinkle of chili flakes—the acidity and fresh herbs echo the wine’s energy and finish beautifully.
