Margins Neutral Oak Hotel Red 2023
Crafted by Megan Bell of Margins Wine, 'Neutral Oak Hotel' is a testament to the beauty of blending underrepresented grape varieties from various California regions. This light-bodied, chill-able red showcases a harmonious blend of Grenache, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Mourvèdre, Chenin Blanc, Négrette Rosé, and Barbera. Each varietal is vinified and aged separately—most in neutral oak barrels for 4.5 to 5 months, with the Chenin Blanc fermented in a concrete egg—before being thoughtfully blended just prior to bottling. The result is a vibrant, unfiltered, and unfined wine with minimal sulfur additions, reflecting a commitment to organic farming and minimal intervention.
Tasting Notes:
Expect a lively medley of ripe cherries, cranberries, and subtle spices, complemented by floral hints and a touch of earthiness. The wine's refreshing acidity and smooth tannins make it both approachable and intriguing.
Food Pairing:
Versatile and food-friendly, this wine pairs beautifully with roast white meats, meaty fish, and dishes featuring red sauces. For a playful twist, enjoy it with a mushroom pizza or as an aperitif—its bright profile and chillable nature make it perfect for casual gatherings
